Braille Neue is a project that creates a universal typeface that combines Braille and characters, with the aim of delivering alternative ways of communication through sharing information between the sighted and the visually impaired using a common medium.

Braille Neueは、点字と文字が一体になったユニバーサルな書体をデザインするプロジェクトです。見える人と見えない人が同じツールを利用し、同じ情報を共有することで、その間に新しいコミュニケーションを生み出すことを目的としています。

The idea of combining braille with existing characters itself has been practiced by various designers around the world. In this project, we aim to create an inclusive society where the use of Braille is commonplace through the contribution of increasing the variation of typefaces combining Braille and existing characters, their implementation, and the communication between the visually impaired and the sighted that will result.

既存の文字に点字を組み合わせるアイデア自体は、世界中のさまざまなデザイナーによって実践されてきました。今回のプロジェクトでは、点字と既存の文字を組み合わせた書体のバリエーションを増やし、その実装と、そこから生まれる視覚障害者と晴眼者のコミュニケーションについて考える貢献を通じて、点字を使うことが当たり前になるインクルーシブな社会を目指します。
